Why We Prefer to Use the Forums Versus the Telephone (and even Email)

True story -- this just happened.  A customer (very nice guy) called and asked for help with technical thing.  I gave him directions asnd then pushed for him to join the forums for these reasons:

1) People rarely right down what we tell them over the phone
2) People often can't remember all the grueling technical details from the phone conversation, so...
3) They have to call back for the SAME information -- this takes us from doing other things and raises the cost of doing business

So... guess what?  15 minutes later the phone rings and he's wanting the information again -- this time by email.  I said, "No.  Join the forums and post the question there."  He was very cool about it and I expect him to join any second now.

I'm really not as cranky I'll bet some of you think I am; John and I love working with our customers but hate saying the same thing over and over and over.  If you ask questions here versus by phone or by email you'll get an answer here, usually very quickly, and you don't have to worry about writing it down or it getting lost in your email basket.

Thanks for understanding.  But then... if you're reading this, you already participate in these forums.  Thank you!
