this is something it should be simple to control we are wanting to make hood slammers for next years haunt. the basics of it is that when someone passes infront of the car the hoods slam up and down. the details are yet to be hammered out but if we could run it off a car battery in anyway that would be best, if not we would run power to it some how. Does anyone have any ideas if this can be done with a prop1 and what would you recommend as far as motor or something to move the hoods. this is just kind of a thought one of the guys had so i fig i would ask.  ???

A car hood is pretty heavy so I would go with pneumatics to left it and slam it down.  Of course you'd have to remove/disable the hood locking mechanism.

A prop-1 could easily do this.  You could power the controller and valves from the 12vdc car battery and either have a spare air tank in the car or run an air line to it.

this is the way i was leaning. i should be able to hook up a PIR to this correct?

BigRez

Absolutely.   There are several examples for doing this here in the forums, some even include diagrams.
