I am unable to play the training audio file "Hello Kiddies" and I am trying to troubleshoot first with getting the latest updates for my SD Card and the AP16, but I dont see how that is done.  On my Prop-1, I have a couple cables I can connect and upload info to the Prop-1, but where is that connection on the AP16?  The file name I am using on the SD card is labeled
helloSFX01.WAV and the indicator hex dial is turned to "1" and I have a PIR sensor attached to the AP16.

That's a bad file name; according to our documentation you must follow DOS 8.3 naming conventions, so the following names would be legal:

SFX01.WAV -- you can play manually or remotely
HELLO.WAV -- you can only play remotely

Changing the file name to SFX01.WAV nows results in a click heard on the sound board and a small red LED light to turn on, but no sound despite the volume potentimeter (right side input) turned fully clockwise.
Do you think I need to upload the latest fireware.  If so, how do I do that?  I did find the serial input on the AP16 and found the Serial cables I use for the Prop-1 and attached it to the AP16.  Then opened up the BASIC Stamp editor with program named AP-16_Test BS2 and hit run, but it states no BASIC Stamps found.  It does note COM4 is "an invalid port".

You should always install the latest firmware (on any board you're not certain already has it).

I suspect that you have metadata in your file which is stopping playback as soon as it starts.  See this thread:

I cleared out the Metadata and I still get just the click and no sound.  And just so we are all on the same page my Projected Rate is set at 44100 Hz and I am using computer speakers 8ohms plugged into the right line level output.  Nothing is plugged into the left audio line level output.  Do I need to change audio file to 22050 Hz?  Once the Metadata is cleared do I need to fill in the data again (ie the Artist Name/Track Title, etc or can I leave this blank as long as I have track labeled SFX01.WAV)
Any other suggestions?

NO METADATA!

The problem is that as powerful as the chip is, we don't have the resources to skip over that stuff in the middle of playback.  So press the clear button on the metadata editor and then export the "clean" file (you don't have to change the name.  If you forgot to re-export, then your file still has

At the demands of our customers we designed this board NOT to use amplified computer speakers.  Head over to a thrift store and get a set of old speakers and connect them to the speaker terminals.  The line level output is pro standard and may be too "hot" for a set of amplified computer speakers (which is expecting a very small signal).

It appears Im making progress - now when I press the start button the green flickers on and off and the small red LED light stays on for about 45 secs then the board clicks gain then the red LED light shuts off, but still no sound.  So it appears I did clear the Metadata?

There are a lot of LEDs on the board.  The STATUS LED is right under the AUDIO SELECT switch.  It will flash green when audio is playing, then go back to solid green -- unless you've got the POST delay pot set off of zero (see the docs about the PRE and POST pots).

Problem fixed - I bought a pair of stereo speakers and used the speaker outputs instead of an RCA jack with computer speakers and the sound is fanatastic.
Thanks Jon
