Ground connection question

I feel absolutely ridiculous asking this, but I'm starting to question my logic. I am trying to trigger a Brightsign video player, and have managed to confuse myself.

To trigger a video on the model I'm using (the HD-2000), a N.O. switch can be used. What I'm trying to do is use a Prop-1 to trigger a video.

The question is: can I connect the switch wires to the output and to GND, or do I actually need to use a relay? Or, maybe a better way to ask is: do an active output and GND create a short? No significant voltage is being switched, the wire just basically needs to short in order to trigger the video.

Let me know if this isn't enough info and I'm happy to clarify. And as always, thank you in advance for any assistance!

I found the docs that suggest you can use the OUTx terminals:

(Note: When you want an assist with another vendor's product, please link the docs so we don't have to go hunting.  In season there is not a lot of time and a whole bunch of support requests).

Since the docs instruct you to connect a N.O. switch between the input and ground, this suggests an active-low input which is what you get from the OUTx terminals.  Connect GND from the Prop-1 to a ground connection on the switch/LED connector, and then connect the desired OUTx terminal to the desired switch input.  When you make the corresponding Prop-1 pin HIGH that will act like a closed switch on the input.

Note: All of this is technical speculation on my part.  That said, if I had the products in hand I would try what I've suggested above.

Great, thanks Jon. Sorry to make you track down the documentation - I should have posted the link. I'll give it another try. Thank you!
