Hello All,

I finally received my new AP-16+ from Parallax since Jon recommended to do so since he is out of stock on it.  (BTW, I just checked out Parallax's site and they only have 5 left in case someone needs an AP-16+ right away).

In comparing the board to the documentation I have noticed some differences and also a bunch of extra solder pads located all around the board.   I am curious to as their functions.  Moving from the right side of the board to the left:

1) I noticed that There are three solder pads located under each volume control.   I am assuming that one could solder remote volume controls here.
2) There are two jumper headers that are right next to the line out jacks.  While I am guessing they are related to the output jacks, I don't know their purpose.
3) Next is a pair of solder pads next to the Status LED.  I am assuming this is to set up a remote status LED.  If so, the polarity isn't marked.
4) All the way down on the bottom left of the board next to the dip switches are two sets of 3 pads that are labeled "2, 1".  What are these for?
5) There is a 4 pin header located right beneath the Propeller Chip that is labeled PGM.   While this IS located on the main board picture in the documentation, there isn't a mention of it there.   I am assuming that as with the HC-8+ you can also hack the AP-16+?

Thank You,

Geo

The extra pads are for OEM use.

We do not recommend hacking the AP-16+ until you're really good at Propeller programming. The programming port is on there for our use, or for custom apps that we develop (under contract) for specific OEMs.

Ok, fair enough.
