I have a 55 minute wav file that is 16bit PCM 44.1Hz 570Mb in size  that won't play on the AP-16+.    I used Audacity to set the file to 22.05Hz  at 285MB and it plays fine.    Why is this?  I thought the board supported up to 44.1Hz?

It does; I would suggest that it's the SD card is not allowing it that file to get spooled up.  Not all SD cards are created equal.

Do you have the latest firmware installed?  We added buffering that seems to help slow SD cards, but there's no guarantee that it will solve your particular card issue.  That said, it's always safe to install the latest firmware.
