i have 3 servos controlled by my prop-1 and I'm wondering if i can power the board and the servos with some sort of battery pack?  I've read other post about battery power but am unsure how much power ill need and how it will plug into the board? ill only need a couple hours max  life .

I would suggest using a 6-pack of AA cells. This will add up to 9v (which you need to get past the regulator threshold).

Think of a battery like a specialty gas tank. The voltage is the pressure it can deliver; the size affects how long it can deliver that pressure. If you crack open a standard 9v battery you'll find a stack of six tiny 1.5v batteries. Yes, it will work, but not for very long.

sounds great! how do i connect this to the board?

Just connect the positive lead to the V+ terminal and the negative lead to the GND terminal. Put the Prop-1 swtch in position 2 and you're good to go.
