I don't know if this has been already asked or if you talked about it somewhere but I was wondering if the FC-4 could be used as a variable speed controler for an AC motor?   So just like you can dim lights you could also speed up or slow down a motor?

No, I don't think so.  I believe AC motor require a variable frequency to change their speed and the output of the FC-4 is still 60 Hz.  My column in the November issue of Nuts & Volts explains how AC lamp fading is accomplished.
