Panel mount servo/3 wire connectors

I was planning on enclosing some boards, prop-1, fc-4, etc, separately, but haven't come up with a good way to do the serial connections between the boxes. I haven't found panel mount servo connectors, but I was thinking of using 1/8" stereo cords and panel mount receptacles. Anyone think this will interfer with communications, how long of a run would be too long, etc.?

Just keep the connections short and use the shield in your cable as the ground connection.
