I dropped by the San Francisco Peninsula's biggest front-yard haunt, the DC Cemetery on Thursday night.

The high winds we'd had earlier kept Brent from getting everything up and running as soon as he'd liked, but there's still a lot to see.  If you go, almost everything in the right side of the display is running on a Prop-1.  Skeletons popping up out of hiding places and spraying water on kids...all sorts of mayhem.  Last time I saw it, it was a big street party with the ends of his street blocked off and a huge crowd watching.  Brent says everything will be up through Sunday and it'll all be working at its best by then, so if you're in the area, drop by.  It's free and a lot of fun.

I went by there after the wind slowed down, i thought he wasn't going to put everything up but i am glad he got it all together last minute. The weather last year is why i choose to do everything indoors for now on, and that allowed me to work through the tough wind. Are you a bay area local ?

Yep, I live in San Mateo.  Actually went by five other haunts this year...including a walk-through Star Trek adventure that included a Pepper's Ghost effect for the transporter!  Amazing how many good locations there are now compared to just two or three years ago.

That's pretty close! haha a walk through star trek theme!? that's amazing, I didn't go to to many haunts this year, Too much time working on my own. But I have seen it getting more and more popular since 3 years ago as well. I wish there was a haunt community thing that was local it would be cool to see what everyone has going on.

On the way to set up decorations at a friend's house...I'm driving along and there's a full-sized Star Trek original series shuttlecraft sitting by the side of the road!

Went back on Halloween night and waited in line for half an hour to see it.  You went through the Guardian of Forever, and immediately a crewman has your group of eight crouch down behind a rock.  Their front yard had been turned into a planet from the original show, including paper mache rocks!  She flipped open her communicator, and told the Enterprise to fire on the rock.  This was done with a fog machine and laser light.  Unfortunately, firing on the rock released a Gorn, who came lurching forward.  Another crewman had some sort of turret-mounted gun and shot the Gorn (very loud BANG!) and the Gorn fell down.  They had your party run to the next section...avoiding a full-sized Horta moving around.  Then they had someone transport down from the ship (Pepper's Ghost, controlled by a well-done transporter panel) and a yeoman came out of the transporter room and gave everyone a tribble to take home.

It was terrific, and surprisingly exciting - you got thrown into bits of an episode.

Also really good was the local Haunted Hospital:  http://web.me.com/shelleyfrost/daretobescared/Welcome_if_you_DARE.html
