I bought an AP-16 last year and never got around to using it...besides a TCT I'm having a hard time coming up with an idea of what to use it for.  So, I'm looking for inspiration...what have you guys used them for?

Thanks in advance!

I use them for sound in all my animated props. I will also be using 32 of them to run all the sound in our haunted attraction this season.

Brian, What kinds of props/effects do you use it with?  I really want to put this thing to good use!  ;)

Sorry, I missed that you had posted here.

I used it as the audio device, controlled by a prop-1 for all the following props:

I am also currently hooking up 32 of them to provide sound to every room (60 in all) in my haunted attraction.

I will also be using another 15 of them for the individual monster sounds for each of my animatronics.

I will also be using a few as actor scares, hooking up a trigger for the actor to hit, when they do they can jump our from a drop window, the sound will activate, and the relay will turn on a light to illuminate them.

Thanks for the ideas Brian!  Nice work!  I do have an idea now, I'll post videos after I have it done.  ;)

I recently used the AP-16+, a Prop-2, and two custom (Propeller-powered) boards in a "Hollywood" display for legendary character creator, Steve Wang.  Steve's crew is building a second one and I will get good pics and video to post when the display goes public.

There is motorized machine that's part of the display; the Prop-2 uses a sensor input to detect the position of the machine and then, after a timed delay, sends a message to the AP-16+ to play a sound that's in sync with the machine's movement.  There's lot's of other stuff, too.  The display is for a game manufacturer so there are a lot of game sounds that play before the machine starts moving.

Again, I'll post pics and video when I'm allowed to.  The display shows that with SMOP (a Small Matter Of Programming) you can do lots of neat things with a controller and the AP-16+.

One cool thing about the AP-16 is, you can trigger your Props with the relay that is on the AP-16, since the AP-16 has a PIR and voltage input connection already on the board this gives you the advantage of triggering sound and the prop at the same time. This relay is also  great for the real basic props that don't need a microcontroller controlling your prop.
