Random control of a dmx yoke light within a fixed area

I understand that dmx control is possible using some of the controllers and I have thoroughly confused myself in trying to determine what I would need hardware and program wise to make the following happen.

We have a military type scene at our haunt and I want to have a search light randomly scanning the scene (large).  I have several dmx moving head fixtures suitable for the job.  While I could use a record and playback type dmx controller to put a pattern in and repeat it, I have become spoiled by the random action of the props from Evilusions we have in the haunt which all use Prop1's for control.

In order to have the light do what I am looking for I would need to output the following values:
Channel 1 - random number ramping from say 100 - 200 and back to have the light pan
Channel 3 - random number ramping from say 80 - 140 and back to have the light tilt
Channel 5 - constantly send 0 to keep the light white
Channel 6 - constantly send 0 to keep the gobo just open
Channel 7 - constantly send 0 to keep the shutter open

So basically, when the controller received a trigger, randomly scan the light within a fixed ranged for x amount of time.  Is this possible and how?

The Prop-1 is not capable of generating the DMX data stream -- it's just not fast enough, nor does it have the memory space required.  We have a controller coming, the HC-8+, that does have the power and memory your project needs, and it even has the DMX interface hardware built in.

So I take it your advice is to wait for the new controller?  I have some time before season, will you be able to help me out with a program.. I am shaky enough with basic, much less a new language.

JonnyMac

If you want to do custom DMX, you'll need to wait for the HC-8+ (the wait won't be long).  And, of course, we'll help with the code.  To do what you want isn't very difficult, but it is somewhat involved.  We have experience, though, and can write a starter program for you that you can modify as you desire.

Great.  Are the new boards going to be ready for MHC?  If so, I will just pick one up there.

We'll show them and you can order (to get the show price), but I don't know if we'll have stock on hand to sell.
