AP-16 relay latching on

I am currently using the switch input on my AP-16 to trigger SFX00.wav. The audio track always operates perfectly. However, a few times over the course of 5 hours, the relay latched on, so the light I had ran thru it did not shut off when the audio reset. A simple off/on reset takes care of the problem for a few hours, but I would like to resolve it. Are there any common mistakes that can cause my symptoms?

That's a new one -- let me look at the code.

I have not found an answer to this on my end, so I am going to use a Prop-1 to control the led light and to tell the AP-16 to play it's file.

If you ever find a possible cause, I'll be curious to know.

The problem appears to be caused by my audio file. For some reason, every 20th time, the AP-16 is not recognizing that my audio file has finished playing, thus not resetting, thus not switching the relay back to it's unenergized state.

Brian,

Did I not ask you to send me the offending audio file so I could try it on my end?  I've looked through the code and there seems to be no reason why the relay should latch up.  That said, if I can see a behavior I can code for it. Thankfully, the AP-16+ code is easy to update in the field.

No, I do not believe you did, but I will email it to you right now so that you can see if there is something I am missing. I made it in audacity, saved it with all the correct settings, including removing all meta data. It works correctly 80% of the time.

I out at a customer site most of the day but will check when I get in tomorrow.

Brian,

I suspect that you have a board with a flaky transistor (drives the relay). I just played your file on my setup about 20 straight times with no relay problems.

I didn't find any problems with the file other that horrible clipping -- this isn't great for speakers and adds noise (raspiness) to the audio.
