File playing but no sound from speakers

Hi all,

I have an AP-16+ Rev D that I recently purchased. This is my first time working with this board, although I have worked with the AP-16+ multiple times and am familiar with how to make it work.

I am triggering it from a Prop-1, and have written a simple program to test the AP-16+. All it does it play a named WAV when I push a button attached to the Prop-1. The file does play, as the green light on the AP-16+ blinks quickly once the button is pressed and stops after an appropriate amount of time (the WAV is only 20 seconds, and the green light blinks for 20 seconds). But while the file is playing, I get no audio from my speakers.

I have tested different cables and different speakers and both speaker outputs. I did notice though that on the Rev D there are two jumpers near the speaker connections. Do these have anything to do with my issue?

If anyone has any ideas, I'd be much appreciative. Thank you!

I'm sorry, I thought I had done my homework and hadn't. I see that the jumpers are not causing my problems, as they are used to change the RCA jacks from outputs to inputs.

However, any haughty on the problem would be appreciated,

Thank you!

As you have may noticed that the AP-16+ has two terminal strips on the right side of the board. These are for connecting 4 or 8 ohm speakers (look at AP-16+ docs for info). The AP-16+ also provides a line-level outputs to connect to a external amplifier.

You can also check the volume and make sure that it is turned up a little bit.

If you have non-powered speakers connected to the RCA jacks of the AP-16+ you will not get any sound, they are line level outputs for external amplification or an audio servo driver. Use the terminal blocks for direct speaker connections.

Thanks to both of you for your assistance. Apparently the madness of the season has stricken me again, and somehow (still not sure how) I ended up with a silent WAV file. Everything was hooked up fine, my program worked fine, but sometime between editing the file and exporting it to a WAV I made it silent. So it was playing, but it was playing nothing. Ugh, boneheaded move. Anyway, all is well. And again, I appreciate the assistance.

Liam,
After reading your post I see we are having similar issues, but mine is not rectified.  I know I'll get a reply from Johnny Mac, and a couple of others, but I don't mind more eyes and opinions.  Would you mind looking at my last posting as of this evening, to see what I have missed?
Thanks.
Steve

Oh, the post is under user name aquawilly54 with a heading of "Figuring it out" under Audio.
