Using Surplus Parts

We got a customer call for help yesterday; it seems that any time he activated a valve from the EZ-3micro, the controller would reset and restart the cycle.

The culprit: The valve had a built in snubber diode and when wired backward, the diode created a temporary short circuit which caused the power supply to brown-out and reset the controller.

Lesson: When you pick up components are "garage" (or surplus) sales events, try to locate the manufacturer's documentation for the product -- it can save you some trouble by making the correct connections the first time.
