how to start programing prop 1 boards

This will be my first try at programing. How do i get the the template on my pc to write basic on?

I'm not sure I understand your question.  To program the Prop-1 and Prop-2 controller you will need the Basic Stamp Editor from Parallax, you can get it at this link:

Once you have it installed you can tell the editor which file to use as the standard template any time you select File >> New.  That is done by selecting the file from the Preferences dialog, on the File & Directories tab.  I've attached the file that I use.
