Serial Inverter

About communications with Stamplot and a sx28 protoboard. This little project is for a "Kegerator" that I am going to build using a RC-4 board and one of the 4 amp SSR's I got during the special on RC-4's last year hooked up to the incoming power on a freezer I have in my basement (came with the house, $110,000 freezer - what a deal!  :D ). I haven't done anything with this project yet (time constraints and just bad on me, get going already ). In the thread above Jon mentions just connecting directly to the PC (going through a DB9 connector), and I have yet to try that. But I was thinking today, and I wonder if I can use my serial inverter for this task?

Yes, you can, Shawn.  Just keep in mind that if your PC sends anything it will be echoed back through the Serial Inverter.  If you use the SI, then use True mode communications -- only if you connect direct (through a resistor) should you use Inverted mode.

Let me clarify -- use Open True mode; if the PC does send something you don't want it banging against an IO pin (Open modes are safe in this way).
