Thanks Norm :)

That will depend on wire size -- I wouldn't go more than 5 or 6 feet as you're carrying power and a signal.  Don't use those [thin] extension cables; build your own (components are available at Jameco) with 24-gauge wire.

Jon,
I used standard flat telephone cable to a lenght of 30 feet.  I made a housing for the PIR from VAC tubing and fittings.
I cut the supplied cable with the PIR in half, connect the free end to a RJ11 socket and glued it to the end of the PIR housing.
At the Prop-1 I used a standard telephone socket and used the other end of the cut cable to connect to the Prop-1.
Now you can use a telephone cable and plug it in to each of the sockets. However one end of the phone cable end must be reversed ( by cutting one end off and flipping the cable over and  add a new RJ11 plug using a RJ11 crimp tool.

All four of my props work great

Scaring someone with a prop you built -- priceless!

Beware that long wires become antennas, so you'll want to make sure that such a long sensor extension doesn't run near solenoids or other sources of EMI.
