John Please HELP!!!!!

Was working on a program code and something went wrong....

The 2803 Black Chip get vary vary hot

The code was making a LED blink (12v Dc) and now does nothing....

Have i shorted the 2803? or is something else wrong?

That chip can get warm, but never too hot to touch.

Take it out and replace it (no sense taking a chance).  Before you pop in a new chip but plug-in a Prop-1 Trainer and check your outputs with a simple program.  It is a very rare case that the ULN fails and that failure migrates through to the processor but it can happen.

Okay thanks

The power led on the prop 1 blinked rapidly for a few sec then things went south. I also get power threw the outputs when there shouldn't be

I have to place another order anyways so i'll get a few extra 2803 chips incase this happens again.  I'll let you know what happens when i pull the chip and test it.

Be very careful installing the new chip.  In one end there is a half-moon shaped dimple; this end is pointed to 12 o'clock when the chip is inserted int the socket.
