Hello smart people 8),

I got a clock that runs on a 4.096 MHz crystal. Is it possible to double normal speed by dropping in a crystal that's 2Xthe MHz? Taking this one step further.. is a such a thing as a variable crystal that could change it on the fly?

Thanks,
chris

Chris-
Yes, if you could find a 8.192MHz crystal it would double the speed. I dont think you'll find one, as clock crystals come in specific frequencies. They dont have variable ones.

Scaring someone with a prop you built -- priceless!

I had a feeling that's how it worked i just need a push before jumping in.

thanks

Crystals also have a very specific capacitance -- you'll need to match that, too.
