I have a box of assorted AC adapters with the correct polarity for use with my Prop1 and AP-8. They range from 12v 300ma to 12v 1.2a.  I'm working on my next project with the AP-16+ and was wondering if you can give me some guidance on what type os power supplies would be best to use.  In addition to the Box of AC adapters, many came from American Sci and Surplus,  I have some laptop power supplies that are 12 and 18vdc in assorted 1 to 3A.  Would these work on the AP16+ as you recommend more potent power?  I'm not sure of what the difference is other than some may say switching power supply.
Everyone will be happy.
Even if they must be held down kicking and screaming until they are.

We spell it out in the AP-16+ documentation: 12 to 18 volts, 60W (~3A) is recommended if you want the full force of the amps to be available.  The supply we sell with the AP-16+ is 18V at 3A.

Can you run the AP-16+ from one of our standard 12v, 1A power supplies?  Sure -- but not very loudly.  If you turn the volume up too high the AP-16+ will demand more current from the power supply than it can provide and you'll notice distortion in the sound.
