Do Prop-1's ever deprogram?

I just took out a prop that I haven't used since last halloween, and went to hook it up, and it doesn't appear to be triggering the program.  Is there any way to test it?

I had Jon write up the program YEARS ago, and it worked flawlessly for 3 years or so.  Now I can't find the code that was written so I'm stumped.

Any ideas?

I've been using the BS1 for 15 years and have never had one "de-program."

I have hundreds, possibly thousands, of Prop-1 files on my system.  Tell me the name of the program of give me so hints and I'll see if I have it -- I have found old programs for others.

I have one question for you. What kind of prop was it?

This should give Jon a better hint in finding the program he written for you.

It was a Sign Post prop.  It had a Zombie on the Side of it that was attached to a cylinder.  It was triggered remotely via FM transmitter, and the Cylinder cycled on a random in/out pattern, so it was never the same movement twice in a row.  It MAY have had other command lines in it for sound or other triggers, but the only one used was the cylinder in/out.

When I click the remote, the receiver squeals, indicating signal, but the prop one doesn't seem to be responding anymore.  Now, I had to dismantle it last year when I moved, and rebuild it at the new house, but the Project box with the Transmitter/Prop-1 were kept in tact.  The cylinder will cycle if I manually trigger the solenoid.  So the ONLY thing I can think of is the somehow the prop one isn't triggering correctly.  This program would have been written somewhere in either 2006 or 2007, around Halloween.  I looed back over this forum and couldn't find it, though.

Or, on another note, is there any way to see if the program is still stored on it?

Do you have a prop trainer? It would show if any of the outputs are being activated.

Scaring someone with a prop you built -- priceless!

I believe so.. I'll check that part out tonight.

If I hook a basic STAMP editor up to it, will it show me the script already installed?

JonnyMac

No.  Once a program is downloaded it cannot be retrieved.

Okay.  Looks like I may have to try and dig up an old Serial Cable and see if I can try and reprogram it.

Let us know if need some help writing the program that's what we are here for. I will have time tonight write one for you if you want, just say the word.

Thank you.  I'll try the trainer first and see if it's even clicking.

nfmmalice

Okay.  Here's the update.  The prop-1 seems to be okay.

I put the trainer on and hit the manual trigger and it shows random cycling on P0...  SO I can only assume that somehow my trigger isn't triggering.

Is there any way I can figure out which channel the trigger is set to?

BigRez

Without having the program or original specs (program request) you really can't know.  You can take an educated guess and try PIN6 - that one is often used for a trigger.

Okay... maybe I can try this then, and see if anyone can help.  This is the Board I have:

I had the white wire connected to the B block and the red connected to the C block, with the black hanging loose.  This was in turn connected to the prop-1 (I belive youare correct) at p6.

Is this wiring correct?

JonnyMac

It would be correct if the B/C terminals are dry-contract, normally-open.  The P6 SETUP jumper should be in the DN position.
