Hi all,
My AP is not working right, when powered up all itdoes is a clicking sound thru the speakers.
I have verified that all audio files are wav's and I have even tried to SFX them and still all I get is clicking.
Any ideas as to why and how do I correct this.

In my troubleshooting I have found that if the speakers are not connected when I start the board all is good at this point if I connect the speakers and let it run all is good,
however if I turn off the board and then wait a few seconds and turn the board back on again no status light the red lights by the amplifiers blink red and the clicking sound.
Any ideas?

In my troubleshooting I have found that if I disconnect the the negative side of the left speaker only on start up all is good, then I reconnect the negative left and all is good until I turn off the power.
Any ideas?

It sounds like you have a speaker and/or wire that's causing problems on power up. If everything is fine when you power up with the right speaker connected and the left speaker disconnected, try swapping them (and the wires) and see what happens. If after the swap you find that the right speaker now needs to be disconnected for power up then it's the speaker and/or the wire that's causing the problem.

In further troubleshooting I took Jackmans suggestions and tried all possible connections, same results.
The speakers are brand new 5x7 8 ohms.
Acts as if there is to much load on speaker terminals on initial start up.
I am wondering if upon initial start up if the speakers should be disconnected until the status light is green?
This issue is only on initial start up, the AP runs great after that.

I'm having a really hard time following this thread.

When you power up the AP-16+ there will be a small "bump" with the speakers as with any kind of audio device.  After the AP-16+ boots up, you should get a green status LED.  If the the status LED is solid red then it could not mount the SD card.  If the status LED is flashing red then it could not identify any of the files on the SD card as valid.

Valid AP-16+ files are:
* WAV
* 16-bit, signed PCM
* stereo
* 44.1 kHz sample rate or lower
* conform to DOS 8.3 naming

Click here for SFX test files (22kHz).  You can drop these onto you SD card to verify that the AP-16+ is working.

Morning all,
John I will send you a video of what I am getting and seeing.
That should help you follow this thread.

JackMan

Just curious, what power supply are you using (volts/mA's)?

Eddie

I am using the power supply that came with the unit.
The prop is not here at my house otherwise I could give you the info.
I am hoping to get the time to make a video of the electronic devices sometime this week.

You are saying that power supply that came with the AP16+, is this correct? Is this one you are talking about,18VDC, 3A "line wart" power supply which is sold with AP16+, if chose the power supply option.

Have you run basic tests using our audio and test programs?

Yes bsnut this is the power supply that with the AP-16+.
Johhnymac no I have not been able to get to running your tests, first I have to work and I realize that I am not the only one that has to work.
And I have been reading the manuals that you have been drilling me on, I hope to be able to do those test on Saturday.
I will let everyone know the results.

Hi All,
I think I may have found the cause of all the headaches.
The Power supply that came with the AP-16+ has an output rated at 12VDC @1000mA.
In a previous post on this thread, I read that the power supply should be 18VDC @ 3A.
After I post this I am going to read the manual with a magnifying glass so I do not miss anything, and in the future orders I will check all power supply's.

Hi All,
I did not have to read very far into the manual, right there on the bottom of the first page
power input 12-18VDC @ 3A.
The document version is 1.40 dated 03Aug 2010.

QuoteThe Power supply that came with the AP-16+ has an output rated at 12VDC @1000mA.

That power supply didn't come with the AP-16+, it had to be ordered as a separate piece.  We sell two power supplies: 12v, 1A for controllers; 18v, 3A for the AP-16+.  The product page makes the power supply requirements clear:

Note: Power supply and speakers are not included with the AP-16+. We suggest our 18 VDC, 3 amp supply (see link above).

...and we even have a unified part # for the AP-16+ with the 18v power supply.  Now... it will work at 12v, you just can't turn the volume up very high else you swamp the power supply.
