Prop2 and a PING sensor

I am just starting to play with a PING sensor.  Is it possible for a Prop2 to do one thing when a person is greater than a certain distance and another if they are less than a certain distance?   The Prop2 would do X function when the target is greater than 5 feet and then Y function when the target is less than 5 feet.

Yes, it is, but here's the rub: people are not great targets for the Ping sensor vis-a-vis precise distance.  We're soft and we cover ourselves in cloth that tends to absorb rather than reflect the sonic wave.  If you have some sort of controlled area where your guests are corralled, I would suggest using a couple of beam breaks instead of one Ping.

Not all of us!!   ;D   Mat switches might be another option.

If you really want to use the ping sensor, you can have it bounce its sound waves off of a hard target, such as plywood. This target would be the beginning of the triggered area and when a group moves through the sound waves the ping's value should change. This gives you two values, one for the plywood another for the group breaking sound waves. You can also use a PIR at the second position to make sure your prop is triggering at the second position. But, the change in ping sensor's value should give you, what you are looking for the second position trigger value.
