Well my 10 year old computer died (fried Mother board) and I had used the serial port to program the Prop-1. I was looking for a USB adapter on the EFX site as the new computers come without serial ports. I found 2 different adapters:

1) USB-to-Serial Adapter listed as an accessory on the Prop-1 controller.
2) Prop-1 USB Programming Adapter listed as an accessory on the Prop-1 Starter kit.

Is there a difference between the 2 different adapters? Which one should I get?

Thanks!

Here's what you want:

We created this so that you don't have to plug the Prop-1 Serial Adapter into the USB-to-Serial adapter; it's a cleaner, easier-to-use setup.

I do appreciate the new USB adapter.  One of the things I did not like about having to have the older version with the serial adapter was it's length.  I build control boxes for a friends haunted house in Hubbard, OR and I've had to leave room for the roughly 4 inch long programming adapter.  To help in this I adapted a three prong motherboard fan extension cable.  It plugs into the end of the adapter and after shaving down the female end it easily plugs into the Prop-1.  Some of the control boxes get pretty crowded after I install the Prop-1, AP-16+, relays and power supply.
