DC power jack - poor connection

One of my Prop-1's has developed a poor connection to power...the DC power jack has gotten very loose.  Sometimes I have to wiggle the barrel jack to get the Prop-1 to turn on.  It seems the spring inside the connector is weak and doesn't always push up and make a good connection.

I can get a new connector from Jameco; is removing the old one and replacing it the best way to fix this?  I'm thinking of Jameco Part no. 101178.

Jeff,
Not sure if you are using a power supply from EFX-TEK or some other but one thing to check is the size of the hole in the power supply plug. Some power supplies have a 2.5mm hole instead of 2.1mm. You need 2.1mm to make good contact with the Jack. Just a thought..

I should've mentioned that the power supplies work fine with other Prop-1s and a Prop-2, it's just this one (which is a hand-me-down from another haunter) that needs fixing.

Another option would be to use a power supply with bare wire ends and just connect it to the V+ and GND terminal blocks.
(The switch needs to be in position 2 for this to work).

Its up to you to do, just make sure from the datasheet for this part that it matches the one on the board or you can contact EFX-TEK to see what they suggest you to do.

The manufacturer part # for the jack is RAPC722X. They're kind of tricky to remove from the board -- a hot air workstation helps.

Finally got around to this...de-soldered the damaged part (after some effort) and put a new one on.

It's alive!  The Rev. B Prop-1 is happily triggering lights on the Prop-1 Trainer.
