Easier Way To Program?

Hey Guys,

Have a quick simple little question for you or anyone that can answer this for me. I do not have any problem coding/scripting up prop-1's, prop-2's, or HC-8+ controllers most of the time but we are looking to expand prop management to the less tech savvy crew members we have. They are use to the simple controllers like the peekaboo's and boobox flex's.

Now with the BooBox Flex you can use a program called "Director" that allows you to program your outputs on and off while running audio with it. This program displays an audio wave on the top of the program and each output gets a line underneath that, letting you select exactly what time each output turns on and off depending on when you want them to during the audio file.

Is there any program like the one we use with the boobox flex to program prop-1, prop-2, and HC-8+ controllers?

It may not be as fancy as that other program, but our controllers are more flexible. Check the Vixen section of our forums. You can create sequences for the Prop-1, Prop-2 (turning them into bit-bangers), and the HC-8+ which is very advanced allowing digital (on/off), analog (variable brightness), and servo control. The HC-8+ is somewhat advanced, but it's amazingly flexible, too. This is why Legoland selected it for world-wide use in their animatronic displays.

I just downloaded and Director to give it a try. Sadly, it doesn't allow off-line show creation -- bogus. You don't have to have anything connected to Vixen to create a show control program for the Prop-1.

I've attached a screen shot of Vixen; I opened a blank sequence for the Prop-1, assigned an audio file, then activated the visualizer -- note that it looks pretty similar to the Director interface.

You can use our audio player, or one from another manufacturer. Like I said, our philosophy is different: we don't combine audio and control into the same product as this becomes very limiting for our wide range of customers (most of our business is outside the Halloween industry).

From what I saw from the screenshot on their webstie, vixen is remarkably similar. The only difference, I would think, is that we use audacity to edit audio waveforms. But that should be no big whoop.

One advantage to using vixen, and EFX-TEK, is the customer support is extraordinary! But I have never dealt with a boobox.
