I have an idea for a new board that might be useful to prop builders. It would be a serially addressable board similar to the other I/O boards, but in this case it would contain a whole bunch of 8 (or larger) position DIP switches. It would be readable by the switch number which would send back the settings for that switch. This could be used for all kinds of things in your program and allow for an installed prop board to be adjusted ( like loop or wait cycles, pin assignments, etc) on the fly through an initialization step reading from the board. Additionally it might offer a programmable timer circuit set by some DIP switches to some number of seconds and triggerable serially and with TTL logic,. the output would come back TTL to be connected to input pins ....

Just some thoughts...
