ap-8 to prop-1 serial connection

You shouldn't be connecting your AP-8.Serial and AP-8.P pins together -- your connections should look something like this:

Well I looked it over and I removed the servo wire I had on BRW to P on the ap-8 and I had no sound. I reconnected it and it played. It is doing just what I want it to do ,But for learning purposes I would like to now whey. THAN YOU  again JON for writing the file for me. It has made my year for me. It's so cool to see it work. I  run it over and over and get a kick out of it!

How did you have the segment DIP switches set when you recorded the sound, and how are they set now?

They are set to loop is open(o) ,2,1,and 0 are (x) closed. Also, How can I add in  an output (say out0?)  to come on the same time my (CYLINDER = ISON) comes on so that if I want to change out my air cylinder to a 24v system , It will be compatable to run either one?

I think you have to leave the segment switches open when you use serial control, but, darn it if I could find it in the documentation.

For serial control the DIP switches must be open.

SO I need to go back and record it with all segment switches set to open?

You will record with the switches set to the segment #s you're going to use.  Once all the recording is done, you must open all switches.  The reason is that the processor on the AP-8 (hiding under the audio chip) can electronically close an open switch, but it cannot open a closed switch.
