DC-16 vs electro-mechanical relays / DW203F vs Neon lamps

Hi,

I tried to put 16 electro-mechanical relays on a DC-16 without reading any documentation, and, of course, it does work. I'm able to clode 4 relays at a max, and when I try to close another one, DC-16 is opening everything. So I guess I'm using to much current. So I would like to know if I can command 16 DW203F instead of 16 electro-mechanical relays. By reading previous posts, seems that for 8, I will have about 175mA, and if I understand the crydom documentation, it only need 3mA to operate. So that should be enought. Can someone confirm? Or do I have a way to keep my actuals electro-mechanical relays? Since I have already wire everything, that will be better for me.

Also, I would like to know if DW203F is able to operate a neon lamp. I thinkg that a neon lamp have a current pick when it's starting, but I'm not really sure, and I'm also not sure if the DW203F is able to handle that.

Thanks,

Jean-Marc

So are you suggesting that you want to connect DW203s to the output of the DC-16?  You can do this, of course, just mind the wiring: the + side of the input goes to V+ on the DC-16, the - (negative) side of the input will go to the corresponding channel terminal.

You may be able to drive neon lamps with the DW203; I've not done it with those relays, but a long time ago at Parallax we created a big neon sign with other SSRs and it worked just fine.  If in doubt you should consult the tech folks at Crydom as they will have the definitive answers.

Hi Jon,

for for your reply.

So I will rewire and do some testing with the Crydom. Will just try to not explod anything ;)
