I have been honored with an invitation to speak at the University of Advancing Technology in Tempe, AZ.  As I write this note I'm in the robotics lab, run by my friend -- and you know him, too -- Ryan Clarke (yes, another ex-Parallaxian), or Professor Clarke as he's known here on campus.  He tells me that my speech will be blasted out live on the Internet; as soon as I know details I'll post them... in case you're really bored and have nothing better to do on Thursday afternoon.

Did someone make a recording? I would still like to hear the speech.

I think so, but as I understand it will not be made public.

Here's the gist: If you enter the product development cycle without knowing your customer, you are going in under-armed, and... nobody cares about the technology you use, they just want their problems solved.  I talked about my work history with Toro, Flowtronex, Parallax, and EFX-TEK, some of the successful products I created (with customer guidance) for these companies, and shared what my mentors passed on to me and that I have found true over 26 years in product development.
